A sphere with a fractal projected onto it.
(from my raytracer's gallery) A raytracer is a program which renders 3D
pictures by simulating the physics of light particles. Truly a lost art of Computer Science, raytracers tend
to run slower than game graphics, but produce more realistic pictures. Today, raytracing is finding its way
back into popular culture with digital effects in films.
I have two articles on this topic:
- Tracing the Physics of Light coming!
An introduction to concept of raytracing, along with a few interesting topics. - Supersampling: Cool Name, Cool Concept.
I'll discuss a common anti-aliasing technique called "supersampling" - which is actually a topic much bigger than graphics.
Also, see a few images that my raytracer generated.
