Why am I doing this?

...what's the point of gaining knowledge if you can't share it?

Physicist Richard Feynman, my role model.
Feynman was a man whose genius revolutionized
the field physics. His most admirable efforts,
however, are in his infectious and inspiriting
passion for knowledge. He was both a genius and
master teacher
I have a huge passion for knowledge and learning, but I have found that this passion of mine would never have been anywhere without the hundreds people who were willing to share their knowledge with me. So I want to start giving back.

I also feel deeply for the people out there who want to learn about cool stuff, but don't want to get bogged down by technical details. I was once there on all of these topics, and I'm still there on the topics which I'm researching. So it's my goal to make this information accessible, interesting, and educational.

Additionally, I do not have any desire to teach people like they're children. I work very hard at capturing some of the finer points of these topics. If my job is done right, then virtually everything I have learned, you can learn too. In many ways, wording what I know into interesting writing is an attractive challenge to me. It's a good exercise, too, because it makes me re-learn the material in a different way so that other can understand it.

Not only do I enjoy the intellectual challenge that programming itself brings, education is also a passion of mine. Putting together diagrams, writing down what I do for a general audience, and re-thinking what I have learned are all important skills for someone who wants to teach. My career goal is to be college professor someday, does it show?

This website and its articles also help my friends and family figure out what it is that I spend so much time doing!

I'd also like to say here that I have compiled most of my work from my own research in articles, books, and Internet sites. I do not want my work to be cited at all because that violates the copy rights of the places I looked at. Please only use this site as a "jumping off point" to get you started in research. You can read more about this in my article: don't cite me.
